Last season, Somna invited audiences into the world of dreams—a place where memories, fears, hopes, and imagination blurred together. It explored the subconscious and the emotional landscapes we experience while asleep. But eventually... We wake. And that is where Vigil begins.

As the inaugural production of 8:20 Dance Company's Clockwork Series, Vigil features eight original works by guest choreographers, each responding to a shared annual theme through their own unique artistic voice.

Vigil explores the fragile return to consciousness. It asks what remains after the dream fades. What emotions linger? What truths follow us into daylight? What parts of ourselves become clearer once we're fully awake?

A vigil is more than simply being awake—it is an intentional state of awareness. A choice to remain present, watchful, and open. It is found in moments of waiting, protecting, grieving, celebrating, hoping, and healing. It is the quiet space where we become conscious not only of the world around us, but of ourselves.

Through eight distinct choreographic perspectives, audiences are invited into an evening of vulnerability, resilience, transformation, and connection. Each work stands on its own while contributing to a larger collective experience—one that reminds us awakening is more than opening our eyes. It is choosing to see. Choosing to stay present. Choosing to carry forward what the dream revealed.
